Macclesfield, Roe & Co. (silk manufacturer and copper mining & smelting) Halfpenny 1789 (engraved by Hancock, manufactured prob. by Westwood). R&Co cypher with bees and beehive crest, rev. industry seated left holding auger and cogwheel, edge PAYABLE AT MACCLESFIELD LIVERPOOL OR CONGLETON .x., 29.5mm/13.03gm. (DH 10). Another similar, but bee under EI, 29.5mm/12.44gm. (DH 11). Another similar, but bee under I, 29.5mm/13.10gm (DH 12). Another similar, but bee under F, 29.5mm/12.93gm. (DH 13). Another similar, but obv. as 13 and rev. as 12, 29.5mm/12.91gm. (DH 14), all Extremely Fine or better and all with a degree of original mint bloom – particularly last [5].
