Description
Macclesfield, Roe & Co. Halfpenny 1792. Draped bust of Charles Roe right, rev. industry seated left holding auger and cogwheel, edge PAYABLE AT MACCLESFIELD LIVERPOOL OR CONGLETON .x. 30mm/12.72gm. (DH 57). Another exactly the same but rev. die flaw more developed 30.5mm/12.66gm. (DH 57). Another similar, but space over industry’s head on rev., 29.5mm/12.51gm. (DH 58). Another similar but top bar points to between ‘N’ and ‘Y’ 30.5mm/12.41gm. (DH 59). All four good Extremely Fine, first two with almost complete lustre, second two with just traces, last with heavy die break to reverse edge, last two scarce [4].
