Summary Jurisdiction: 1891-92 24c black, 48c rose and 72c red-orange perf 15 each overprinted 'SPECIMEN' type D11. A unique group, ex De La Rue archives, and illustrated in 'The De La Rue Collection', (Vol. II, p.2356) with the caption 'found in an album of world stamps apparently started circa 1860, to watch the trend of designs and processes of the firm's competitors' perhaps confirming that De La Rue regarded this design as some of Waterlow's finest work! A most unusual incidence of Waterlow printed stamps bearing a DLR specimen overprint.
