A Rare Great War Pair Awarded For Service as a Surgeon in Romania – Surgeon Thomas Scott Shepherd, British Red Cross, St. John of Jerusalem and French Red Cross, comprising 1914-1920 British War and Victory Medals, (T. S. Shepherd. B.R.C & St. J.J.) toned, fine (2)
Thomas Scott Shepherd was born in 1874 in Wigan, Lancashire. He volunteered as a Surgeon with the British Red Cross Society, serving in Romania from the 25th of November 1916 to the 15th of March 1917. His Medal Index Card confirms the award of the Pair and states that his first Theater of Operations was 2A‑ Greek Macedonia, Serbia, Bulgaria and European Turkey; he landed on the 20th of October 1916.
