A Great War Rifle Brigade Pair with a Pre‑War, Edward VII Territorial Force Efficiency Medal, West Riding Divisional Engineers awarded to Private and Sapper Joseph Sheldon, comprising 1914-1920 British War and Victory Medals, (923 Pte. J. Sheldon. Rif. Brig.), Territorial Force Efficiency Medal, EVIIR, (192 Sapr J. Sheldon W. R. Div. E. R.E.), mounted for wear, very fine (3).

Joseph Sheldon was born in 1876 in Bradford, Yorkshire West Riding. By trade, he is shown as an Electric Tram Car Driver. He presumably joined the West Riding Divisional Engineers about 1894‑6 and served with them for at least 15 years as his TFEM was awarded in 1909.
He enlisted into the Rifle Brigade on the 24th of April 1915, being later transferred to the Labour Corps, from which unit he was discharged on the 19th of March 1919 with Silver War Badge No. B317476, reason for Discharge: King’s Rules and Regulation 392, Para xvia – Sick.
He died in October 1925 aged 49 years.
