An Original and Rare World War Two US Air Force Related, Pen and Wash Cartoon by the well-known Great War Artist Bruce Bairnsfather, entitled ‘Then after you’d lost half a wing, two engines gone dead, put the fire out, and had the rudder shot away, what happened?’, Pen and Wash on card 27cm x 37cm, signed by the artist bottom right corner. Fine (1).
Captain Charles Bruce Bairnsfather (9th July 1887 – 29th September 1959) was a prominent humourist and cartoonist. His best‑known cartoon character is ‘Old Bill’; Bill and his pals Bert and Alf featured in Bairnsfather’ s ‘Fragments from France’ cartoons, published weekly in The Bystander magazine during the Great War.
