1862 Transatlantic Mail. Superb entire to Boston carried by the Cunarder SS "Asia" prepaid by a 1s Pale green, tied by a London E.C. "75" duplex for JY.12.1862, with a red Boston Br. Pkt. arrival cds at left for the 24th and a "5 Cents" accountancy handstamp. Lovely quality with wonderful personnel contents referring to a multitude of things from the hanging of a man for killing his sweetheart, cures for gout to the problems the recipient had on his outward voyage. Although not specifically mentioned, this almost certainly refers to the grounding of the SS "America" in a storm off Cork a few months earlier.
