Description
The Scinde Medal awarded to Private Charles O’Brien, 22nd Regiment whose papers state Present at the Battles of Meeanee and Hyderabad” comprising, Scinde Medal, Reverse Meeanee, Hyderabad 1843, (Chas O’Brien. 22nd Regt.) fitted with replacement steel clip and silver straight bar suspension naming rubbed edge bumps about fine (1)
Charles O’Brien attested for the 22nd Regiment at Belfast on the 11th of May 1839, stating that he was a 21-year-old Labourer from Ardstraw, Tyrone. His Papers state that besides Meeanee and Hyderabad he was involved in at least another 6 actions which, alas, are too hard to read, he was finally discharged on the 30th of September 1854 – Worn Out and no longer fit for military service. He was admitted to the Royal Hospital Chelsea as an In-Pensioner, and he Died there on the 27th of February 1887.
