The Queen’s South Africa Medal awarded to Private, later Corporal, Harry Cartwright 4th Battalion The Cheshire Regiment comprising Queen’s South Africa Medal, 2nd type, ghost dates, two clasps, Cape Colony, Orange Free State, (3358 Pte H. Cartwright. Ches: Regt.), toned very fine (1)
Harray Cartwright joined The Militia on the 21st of April 1896 at the age of 32 years and 8 months, a Collier from Macclesfield. He stated that he had served as a Regular Soldier for 12 years with the South Staffordshire Regiment. He served in South Africa being awarded the Queen’s South Africa Medal with two clasps and the King’s South Africa Medal.
