Howard Williamson’s The Great War Medal Collectors Companion Vol 1 has a very long entry for this MM Gazette – It’s a “tidying up” Gazette for awards for the Battle of the Somme from the 1st of July to the 10th of December 1916. The 11th (Service) Battalion were in action on the Somme between those dates and on the 3rd of July attacked Thiepval, to note but one action.
Thomas Taylor landed in France with the 6th Battalion The Cheshire Regiment (T.F.) on the 10th of November 1914. He was awarded the MM in the London Gazette of the 19th of February 1917 for an act of bravery during the Somme Battle in the summer and autumn of 1916, His name appears twice in the Casualty Lists - Shrapnel wound right shoulder June 1917 treated at No.11 CCS. And a Gun Shot Wound to Forearm in 1918, this would result in the award of the Silver War Badge No B79606.
