Two Groups of Medals to the Moir Family
Father
Private Robert Moir, 11th (Service) Battalion Cameronians (Scottish Rifles), who was awarded the Greek Military Cross for Rescuing a Wounded Man from No Man’s Land and suffered all his life from Gas Poisoning comprising, 1914-15 Star, (15330 Pte. R. Moir. Sco. Rif.), 1914-1920 British War and Victory Medals, (15330 Pte. R. Moir Sco. Rif.), Greek Military Cross, 3rd Class, unnamed as issued, contemporarily mounted for wear (4)

15330 Private Robert Moir, 11th Battalion Scottish Rifles (Glasgow)
Robert Moir enlisted into the Scottish Rifles on the 21st of September 1914 and was transferred to the Army Reserve on the 7th of May 1919.

Gilbert Moir Merchant Navy – Auxiliary War Vessels
The Atlantic and Normandy Landings Merchant Navy Group of three awarded to Assistant Cook Gilbert Moir whilst serving aboard H.M.S. Ulster Monarch for the D Day Landings comprising, 1939-45 Star, Atlantic Star with France & Germany clasp, 1939-45 War Medal, unnamed as issued very fine (3)
Ulster Monarch was requisitioned by Admiralty in October 1940, initially as a store’s carrier. In 1942, she was converted into an infantry landing ship. HMS Ulster Monarch (F69) carried six Landing Craft Assault craft and was able to transport up to 580 troops. She was armed with a 12-pdr, 2 × 2-pdr and 4 × 20 mm anti-aircraft guns. Ulster Monarch's war record included a circumnavigation of Africa. She took part in the first landing of troops on the Italian mainland and the D-Day landings. She was part of convoy WS 11X, a troop convoy from Liverpool / Clyde to Gibraltar preparing for Operation Halberd.

Handwritten account of Both Father and Sons Wartime activities written by the Grandson and Great Grandson of Gilbert and Robert.
