Description
The Military General Service Medal awarded to George McCann, 95th Foot, who was Wounded at New Orleans, comprising Military General Service Medal 1793-1814, seven clasps, Ciudad Rodrigo, Badajoz. Salamanca, Vittoria, Pyrenees, Orthes, Toulouse, (G. McCann, 95th Foot.) edge bruising very fine (1)
Private George McCann was born in County Armagh and enlisted into the 95th Regiment at Waterford in January 1805. In his subsequent 15 years’ Service with the Colours, he served in America in addition to the Peninsula, and was wounded by a “gunshot left breast” at New Orleans in December 1814. McCann was discharged in May 1821.
Sold with Copy Medal Rolls confirming all seven clasps, the Noonans Roll states “Wounded at New Orleans”
