Description
Military General Service Medal awarded to Robert Browne, 88th Foot who was three times wounded during the Peninsula War comprising, Military General Service Medal 1793-1814, nine clasps, Egypt, Talavera, Busaco, Fuentes D’Onor, Ciudad Rodrigo, Badajoz, Vittoria, Orthes, Talavera, (Robert Browne, 88th Foot. 88th Foot), Regiment impressed twice, edge knock 6 o’clock, otherwise toned very fine. (1)
Robert Browne was from Westborough Wiltshire and enlisted into the 88th Foot in April 1799 aged 18 years. Subsequently engaged with the Regiment in the Peninsula, he was wounded in the head at Badajoz and in the thigh at Vittoria and again in the Thigh at Toluse. He was finally discharged in 1817
