1840 1d “Houses of Lords“ Envelope. Very fine used example of this very rare parliamentary envelope, addressed to Kettering and cancelled by a London “PAID“ Crowned circle datestamp for JA.29.1840. Very rare, Parliamentary envelope were only valid for postage from the Inauguration of the penny post (Jan 10th 1840) until the Issue of the penny black and Mulready envelope (May 6th 1840).
