Our current Stamps &amp; Covers of Great Britain sales brings together, as always, exceptional offerings to suit all collectors.The sale commences with Postal History including pre stamp material, a rare One Penny ‘’Houses of Parliament’’ envelope, and Mulready’s. Moving towards the adhesives we have a spectacular 1d black from Plate 2 (TL) in lower corner marginal showing plate number ‘2’ and part inscriptions. Continuing with the line engraved issues we have a number of other Penny Blacks, Two Pence blues and Penny Reds; with examples on cover, imprimaturs and ‘SPECIMEN’s.&nbsp;Another lot worthy of mention is Lot 3102 being the embossed 10d overprinted ‘SPECIMEN’ in top marginal block of four, an attractive and rare multiple of this stamp. The Surface Printed issues are similarly well represented with Lot 3112, the 1878 10s colour trial, believed to be the unique example in the issued grey-green colour, also 1887-1900 Jubilees with colour trials and other proof material. Moving into the Four Kings with many notable items ranging from the basic stamps, proof material and imprimaturs.One area which quite rightly deserves mention is the fine array of QEII Wilding and Machin errors and varieties. A consignment which sale CEO Paul Mathews relished the opportunity to work on. This collection includes many striking errors with imperfs and dramatic mis-perfs, dry prints and misplacements on the Graphite and Phosphor issues. From the Officials we are pleased to offer two great departmental rarities the first of which is the I.R. OFFICIAL £1 brown-lilac watermark orbs (SG O12), which is thought to be the only sole recorded marginal mint example. Lastly we note the second great Official rarity, this being the I.R.
