Description
Airmails Postal History: 1930 (30 Ago) Captain Yancey, following a Goodwill flight covering 20,000 miles over South America, took off from Rio de Janeiro in an attempt to make the first Land Plane Ocean Flight direct to Miami, however the plane was forced down on Great Exuma Island in the Bahamas, the mail finally arrived at Miami on September 16th where a 5 cent U.S. airmail was added, fine and scarce.
