1840-41 Penny Post Handstamps. Unusual group of four including an 1840 2d, two covers bearing 1d red-browns ‘black plates and a pair of 1841 1d red-browns on piece. Used two margin 1840 2d Blue Pl.2. (AF) tied to piece by a red “AMLWCH/PENNY POST” handstamp and a black MC (SG5, Spec. DS8xaa) offered with a 1d Red-brown ‘Black plate’ Pl.11 (CK) tied to an entire by a red “AMLWCH/PENNY POST” handstamp and a black MC (SG7, Spec. AS74ye). another 1d red-brown Pl.8. ’black plate' cover with “Haslebury Penny Post” handstamp on reverse and finally a pair of 1d red-brown cancelled by a “Poulton Penny Post” handstamp and two black MC's An attractive and unusual study (4).
