Wonderful pair of covers sent to Edinburgh & Norwich each with spectacular strikes of the London single-ring datestamp for MA(MAY) 31 1791 (L5) the last day of use of this cancellation. Towards the end of its use L5 became more elaborate with an increased number of dots and diamonds between month and year, as can be seen from these two examples used on the last day; more than one stamp was in used each day.
