1859 (NO 8) entire from Singapore to Calcutta, endorsed “per Australian” and franked by 1855 4a black/blue glazed, BISECTED DIAGONALLY, tied by “B-172” octagon with, on reverse, “SINGAPORE / SHIP LETTER / 1859 NO.8 / PAID” despatch and “CALCUTTA / SHIP LETTER / 1859 NO.20 / PAID” boxed ds in red; vertical filing fold and other slight imperfections nevertheless a very rare and important exhibition item, being one of four known 4a bisect covers to India of which only TWO are on blued paper.
