Description
1922 (4 NO) cover (with contents) from Baillieborough to Belfast, franked by 1922 Thom 2d orange (die II) tied by despatch cds and showing fire damage on three sides, with very fine strike of two-line ‘SALVED FROM / FIRE GPO DUBLIN’ h/s in violet (first type) and further strike on reverse, offered with original ambulance cover (R.L.B. No. 4. Returned Postal Packet). A splendid civil war cover, recovered from the Sorting Office in Dublin which was burned down by Republican insurgents on 5 November.
