1853 1d Red brown Pl.164 Government perforation trial. Entire sent from Liverpool to Warrington bearing a 1d red-brown Pl.164 (SG 16c) lettered RJ cancelled by a Liverpool ‘466’ numeral, dated on reverse SP.24.1853.These perforation trials had previously been attributed to trials of the Napier machine but as mentioned on Page.246 of SG QV part 1 Vol 1 it is now considered more likely that they were produced on the archer machine.
