Description
The Canadian Memorial Cross, Memorial Plaque Group of 4 awarded to Private Richard Patrick Callaghan 24th Battalion Canadian Infantry who was Killed in Action on the 10th of August 1918 comprising, 1914-1920 British War and Victory Medals, (1054453 Pte. R. P. Callaghan. 24- Can. Inf.), Memorial Plaque (Richard Patrick Callaghan), Candain Memorial Cross, GVR, (1054453 Pte. R.P. Callaghan), very fine (4)
Private Richard Patrick Callagahan was Killed in Action whilst serving with the 24th Battalion Canadian Infantry he proceeded overseas with “Kitchener’s Own” but was later transferred to the 24th, He was a native of Sheffield and had travelled to Canada under the “British Home Children” scheme he was the son of James and Mary Callagahn an d husband of Catherine McKenna (formerly Callaghan) of Liverpool England, he was employed at Peck Rolling Mills in Montreal, he is Buried in Rosieres Communal Cemetery in Plot 3 Row D Grave 23 he was 24 years old when he was killed.
