The Great War, Royal Fleet Reserve, Long Service Group of 3 awarded to Ordinary Seaman John William Beattie, comprising 1914-1920 British War and Victory Medals, (J.48059 J. W. Beattie. Ord. R.N.), Royal Fleet Reserve Long Service and Good Conduct Medal, GVR, (J.48059 (PO. B. 17411) J. W. Beattie. A.B. R.F.R.), , lightly toned edge bumps to BWM, RFR LS&GC very fine. (3)
Able Seaman John William Beattie was born on the 11th of January 1900 a Turner in a Tweed Factory when he joined the Royal Navy on the 11th of January 1918. Medal Roll Confirms the British War and Victory Medals whilst serving on H.M.S. Excellent. He served until the 11th of April 1929 and was Discharged Time Expired. He joined the Royal Fleet Reserve on the 11th of January 1930 and was Demobilised on the 1st of October 1938, He was re-mobilised on the 31st of July 1939 and served until the 7th of April 1948.
