The Boer War Great War Trio awarded to Private, later Lieutenant Robert Norman Brassey, British Columbia Regiment formerly 21st (Cheshire) Company 2nd Imperial Yeomanry and Canadian Expeditionary Force comprising, Queen’s South Africa Medal, 3rd type, three clasps, Cape Colony, Orange Free State, South Africa 1901, this loose on ribbon, (1816 Pte R.N. Brassey. 21st Coy 2nd Impl: Yeo:), 1914-1920 British War and Victory Medals, (Lieut. R.N. Brassey.), contemporarily mounted for wear, toned very fine (3)
Robert Norman Brassey was born in Malpas Cheshire c. 1878 he was the son of a Farmer and he himself stated that that was his trade. He enlisted into the Imperial Yeomanry on the 12th of January 1900and sailed for Soth Africa on the 30th of January, he served in South Africa until May 1901 returned Home and was Demobilised on the 17th of June 1901. He emigrated to Canada before the Great War and lived in Mission City British Columbia his Trade or Calling is given as “Gentleman”. He landed in France on the 22nd of September 1916 and was Posted to the 3rd Candain Pioneer Battalion. He returned to England to No 13 General Hospital on the 4th of November 1918. He eventually sailed from Liverpool on the 3rd of May 1919 arriving on the 14th of May and was Demobilised on the 20th of May 1919.
