Description
Tribal Taxes; Ongandjera. A pair of Registration cards. The first with payments for 1936-1939, 1936 paid with a c.1920 South Africa large KGV head 5/- revenue overprinted "ONGANDJERA / S.W.A." in the small overprint type, the years 1937-1939 paid with three 1931 5/- green and brown postage overprinted with a silver bar with the tribe name in black, endorsed "Exempted" for the following years; the other card with payments for 1942-1944 using three 1931 1½ds surcharged with the small black 5/- under the tribal name (two E and one A). The finest two of the four cards recorded for this tribe. Both the cards and stamps in fresh and fine condition, free from the usual damage from the folds of the cards running between the stamps.
