Description
1842 (16th May) signed Rowland Hill letter, addressed to Thomas Osbo. Esq, concerning remuneration of the Post Office guards of the Birmingham Railway Company. As in the days of the old mail coach, Post Office mail trains were a target for robbers and highwaymen, the Post Office employed armed guards on early mail trains. Some minor stains, otherwise fine, interesting contents.
