1881 De La Rue Essay in the revised design for the 1r with values at top and base, executed in orange-brown on tracing paper (72 x 138mm).  Values, inscriptions and ornaments below head in Chinese white, dated June 28th/81 at top right.  Minor crease to paper and a small toned area, each well clear of design.
